Visa information
Kazakhstan applies different visa rules depending on the traveler's passport, including visa-free entry, single-entry and multiple-entry visas, and visas that require a letter of invitation.
Visa-free entry
Under a visa-free regime, you do not need to obtain a visa in advance. You will receive an entry stamp and may need to complete a registration card. Visa-free entry applies at land borders, seaports, and airports.
Visa-free for up to 30 days
Citizens of the following countries can visit Kazakhstan without a visa for up to 30 days unless an official document states otherwise: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile, Croatia, Cyprus, Czechia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Malta, Mexico, Monaco, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
Citizens of Georgia, Ukraine, Argentina, Brazil, Serbia, Türkiye, Mongolia, Ecuador, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and other eligible CIS countries do not require an entry visa for Kazakhstan.
Citizens of Iran, China, and India may enter and leave Kazakhstan without a visa for stays of up to 14 calendar days per visit, with a total limit of 42 calendar days within each 180-day period.
E-visa:
Tourist e-visas are available to citizens of 117 countries. If your country appears in the list below, you will need a letter of invitation (LOI) from a local tour operator before applying.
The visa permits a single entry and is valid for 30 days. Business and medical e-visas are also available to citizens of 23 countries.
If you use an e-visa, you must enter Kazakhstan through Astana or Almaty airport.

E-visa for business or medical treatment
Passport holders from the following countries can obtain a business or medical e-visa: Bahamas, Bermuda, Burundi, Cambodia, Cuba, Greenland, Haiti, Honduras, Indonesia, Kuwait, Laos, Macau, Macedonia, Montenegro, Morocco, Nicaragua, Oman, Qatar, Serbia, South Africa, Vatican City, Virgin Islands, and Vietnam.
Visa support and letter of invitation (LOI)
To obtain a tourist visa from a Kazakh embassy or apply for an e-visa, you will need a letter of invitation (LOI) from a local tour operator. Citizens of Oman, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia do not need an LOI when applying through an embassy.
A letter of invitation (LOI) arranged through Kettik Qazaqstan costs from USD 150 per person.
The fee paid for an LOI is non-refundable, including when the migration authorities refuse to issue a visa. Documents for an LOI must be submitted no later than 15 days before the requested date of entry into Kazakhstan.
